pricing
A quick Google search for the cost of a wedding officiant will show an average cost between $500-$700.
While we certainly appreciate a payment of that amount for our services, a chunk of the cost for our services depends on out-of-pocket expenses. For example, solemnizing a marriage in New Jersey (where we are located) is cheaper than doing the same in Oregon (which would require travel and lodging costs).
It does take time to prepare for these weddings, especially when considering meeting with the couple a few times, writing a unique homily, rehearsing, etc. For those reasons, we do appreciate a donation that is equal to $500 plus any costs for travel and lodging, but we are also reasonable enough to work with you if budgetary constraints prevent that.
Our weddings may also involve sacred music, and we are happy to provide a piano player and a cantor to perform a processional/recessional, the Psalm, and Gospel Acclamation. This costs an additional $200 plus any costs for travel and lodging.
We can also provide sound equipment/microphones if the venue cannot provide this. This may also involve additional liability insurance. These costs are explained and discussed before any contract is signed.
But wait! There's more!
Do you need music and entertainment for the entire evening? If you hire The Jack Furlong Orchestra for your reception, the request for a $500 donation is waived! The JFO provides not just music for the service, but for the cocktail hour, dinner hour, and dancing, including emcee and DJ services.
