Independent Catholicism is another sect of Catholicism (like Orthodox Catholicism). Members affirm themselves as Catholic without being in line with Rome or the pope, allowing them to hold certain views and beliefs that are a bit more progressive or modern.

Just because a person falls into one of the above categories doesn't necessarily mean the person should be denied the Sacrament of Marriage and the subsequent happiness that comes with matrimonial partnership!

- Getting married anywhere other than inside a church
- Getting married on a holy day or during a holy season
- Not intending to have children
- Not swearing to baptize and raise children as Catholic
- The couple not being heterosexual
- The couple not being chaste
